Nato nel 1968, Stefano Sammaritani (detto “Ciccio“) suona la chitarra nei generi Soul, R&B, Blues e Funk ispirandosi al Memphis Sound degli anni ’60 e ’70.
Cresciuto musicalmente insieme e grazie all’amico (compagno di banco al liceo) Antonio Patanè (stimato pianista e sound engineer), al grande chitarrista Davide Cortellini (che mi ha dato i primi rudimenti nella tecnica e i primi ampli per suonare) e guardando ore e ore in azione il sempiterno Daniel Angelini (uno dei migliori chitarristi italiani), grande esempio di tecnica e di presenza sul palco.
Il mio grande ispiratore, è da sempre il grande Steve Cropper dei Booker T. & MG’s, che mi ha fatto scoprire una maniera di suonare la Telecaster, semplice e sentimentale.
Grazie Steve, non a caso “la rivista musicale britannica Mojo lo ha eletto il secondo più grande chitarrista di tutti i tempi (al primo posto Jimi Hendrix)”.
Dal 1988, (dopo aver sentito per la prima volta Everybody needs somebody dei Blues Brothers) ho suonato quasi esclusivamente R&B partendo dalla mitica “Swindle Blues Band” che è sopravissuta per circa 20 anni con una rotazione di circa 150 musicisti tra cui ho avuto l’onore di suonare con Giordano Bruno Luisè (l’erede italiano di James Brown, la più grande voce soul che abbia mai sentito in Italia), Francesco Aluigi, Paolo Sgallini (grande bluesman), Max Cosmico (originale bluesman dei tempi moderni), Fab”Pippo”Flisi, Roberto Amalfitani, Sam Gambarini (hammond), Mimmo Evangelista, Riccardo Gallo, Gianluigi Durante, Andrea Tomasello, Daniele Ravagli, Michele Parma, Luciano Marzi, Fedra Papaniaros, Alessandro Valentini, Onorino Tiburzi, Daniel Angelini (primo one man band in Italia), Beppe Lombi e tanti altri.
Nella mia vita special guest stars sono gli amici Ciccio Gobbi di LEGG Guitars (eccezionali liutai), Stefano Bisognani (liutaio e grande chitarrista), Matteo Mecalli (il miglior tecnico amp in circolazione), Boris Casadei (mio maestro e grandissimo blues guitar), che mi permettono di suonare e di crescere ancora.
Infine un grazie all’eterno Leo Fender per avere inventato la chitarra Telecaster, lo strumento che ha cambiato il volto della musica, e per cui a volte mi emoziono fino alle lacrime quando la imbraccio.
Born in 1968, Stefano Sammaritani (called “Ciccio”) plays Soul, R & B, Blues and Funk guitar, inspired to the Memphis Sound of the’60s and’70s.
Grew up in music thanks to high school classmate Antonio Patanè (now estimated pianist and sound engineer), the great rock guitar Davide Cortellini (he gave me the first rudiments in technical and the first amps to sound) and watching hours and hours in action the everlasting Daniel Angelini (one of the best living italian guitarists), a great example of technique and how to be on stage.
My great inspiration has been since ever the great Steve Cropper (Booker T. & MG’s, Blues Brothers Band) that let me discover a simple and sentimental way to play the Telecaster.

Since 1988 (after having heard for the first time Everybody needs somebody to love performed by Blues Brothers) I played almost exclusively R&B from the mythical “Swindle Blues Band” that survived for about 20 years with a rotation of about 150 musicians such as I had the honor of playing with Giordano Bruno Luisè (the Italian heir to James Brown, the greatest soul voice I have ever heard in Italy), Francesco Aluigi, Paolo Sgallini (great bluesman), Max Cosmico (original bluesman of modern times), Fab “Pippo” Flisi, Roberto Amalfitani, Sam Gambarini (Hammond), Mimmo Evangelista, Gianluigi Durante, Andrea Tomasello, Daniele Ravagli, Michele Parma, Luciano Marzi, Fedra Papaniaros, Alessandro Valentini, Onorino Tiburzi, Daniel Angelini (first one guitar band) and many others.
In my life special guest stars are friends as Ciccio Gobbi of LEGG Guitars (exceptional guitar builder), Stefano Bisognani (great guitarist, best friend ever & guitar setup), Matteo Mecalli (surfine electronic), Luca Villani (pickups specialist of I-SPIRA and great guitarman), Boris Casadei (my teacher and great young blues guitar), that let me play and grow more.
